Sean Hatter was born and raised in the beautiful scenic hills of Southwest Virginia.  He started drawing and painting as a small child, taking private lessons for several years in various media, but always with a love for realism.  A graduate of Roanoke College where he received the Junior and Senior Fine Arts Awards (1998 and 1999), as well as the 1998 Summer Scholars Award, Sean has shown his work in the Coastal Carolina Community College Twenty-Fourth Annual Art Exhibition (where he received both Second Place and an Exhibition Award) in 1999, The Roanoke City Art Show in 2000 and 2002, the Roanoke College Biennial Exhibition (where he received First Place) in 2000, and in various local galleries and venues in recent years, including the New River Art 2013 Biennial Exhibition where he received the Award of Excellence. In 2014, he was invited to be in the New Voice, Young Innovators Exhibition at the Jacksonville Center for the Arts in Floyd, showcasing regional emerging artists.  Today he lives in Floyd County with His wife, Alison Hatter, and their three young sons, and his current focus is on portraiture and landscapes, working both privately and through commissions.
